Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Rooofread at rooofread.com and www.rooofread.com. For privacy questions or requests, contact Rooofread at info@rooofread.com.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message, attachments and the usual email delivery information. We use this information to respond, consider story ideas, handle corrections or advertising enquiries, and keep a record of the conversation. Please share only what is needed. Do not send identification documents, banking details or other sensitive information.

The question box opens a draft in your own email app. It does not submit your text to Rooofread or save it on our servers. We receive the message only if you send it. Your email provider may save the draft under its own settings and privacy policy.

When you browse

Cloudflare provides website hosting and delivery. It may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, request times and security signals to deliver and protect the site. Some technical information may be retained in service or security logs.

Rooofread’s site code does not currently add advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts or cookies for profiling visitors. Hosting and security services may use necessary technical storage or cookies. This policy will be updated if we introduce optional tracking or other features that change how personal information is used.

Email, service providers and other websites

We use Zoho Mail to receive and manage correspondence. Cloudflare and Zoho process information as needed to provide their services. We use Supabase to store newsletter subscriber records; the current database is hosted in the United States. Processing and storage may take place outside your province or Canada, where different laws and lawful government access requirements may apply. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Zoho’s privacy policy for their practices.

Links to sources and other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices. Rooofread does not control those sites.

How information is shared

We do not sell personal information or provide your contact details to advertisers for their marketing. Information may be handled by the service providers supporting the site and inbox, or disclosed where required or permitted by law, including to address security incidents or protect legal rights.

Sending a question does not give us permission to publish your name, email address or private correspondence. If we want to identify you or quote your private message in a story, we will ask first. A question may inspire coverage without identifying its sender.

Newsletters and advertising

Newsletter registration is open. When you subscribe, we store your email address, subscription status and signup source in Supabase to manage the Rooofread newsletter. Newsletter sending has not launched yet. Emailing us does not subscribe you to marketing emails. To withdraw your newsletter consent or request removal from the list, email info@rooofread.com. Advertising enquiries are handled through email; there is currently no advertising-network tracking in the site code.

Keeping and protecting information

Correspondence is kept as needed to handle the enquiry, maintain relevant editorial or business records, and meet applicable legal obligations. Information no longer needed should be deleted or anonymized, subject to applicable requirements and service-provider backup retention. We do not promise immediate removal from all backups.

We use hosted services to support secure delivery and email handling. No website, email system or method of storage is completely secure. Please avoid sending sensitive material through the general inbox.

Your choices and requests

You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, request deletion, or withdraw consent for a particular use by emailing info@rooofread.com. We may need to verify your identity. We will explain any legal or practical limits on a request, including records we must retain, and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Withdrawing consent may mean we cannot continue handling your enquiry.

If a privacy concern is not resolved, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial privacy regulator.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date above when this policy changes. If a change introduces a new purpose for personal information, we will provide notice and seek consent where required before that use begins.
