Editorial Standards
Useful reads start with showing our work.
Sources with a Clear Trail
We prefer original data and primary sources: statistical agencies, governments, regulators and the organizations that publish the figures. We link to the relevant release and identify its period and geography. Listings describe advertised terms, not completed sales or verified building finances.
Calculations and Assumptions
Our examples separate reported figures from Rooofread calculations and hypothetical assumptions. We explain rates, time periods, included costs and important exclusions. Scenarios are not forecasts. Benefits, rebates and exemptions depend on eligibility.
Publication Dates and Updates
A publication date marks when a story first appeared. A substantive change receives an updated date and, when correcting an error, a short explanation. Formatting changes alone do not make an old story new.
Corrections and Sourcing
Found something we should look at again? Email info@rooofread.com with the article link, the detail in question and a source if you have one. We check the evidence and correct supported errors. Material corrections are explained in the article.
Commercial Relationships
Paid placements will be labelled Advertisement or Sponsored. If a link may earn Rooofread a commission, we will disclose that relationship near the link. Commercial relationships do not turn assumptions into facts.
Information, Not Individual Advice
Rooofread publishes general information about Canadian housing. It does not provide personalized financial, legal, tax, real-estate or mortgage advice. Decisions require your circumstances and current rules. Read our disclaimer.
